In the municipality of San’Anna D’Alfaedo a treasure and a colossus of rock are hidden.
Yes it is and now we will reveal how to find it.
Imagine taking a relaxing day visiting Lessinia and arriving at our Park, surrounded by greenery.
After having circled among the plants and having taken the right time for a refreshment and a little rest, you may also decide that you want to try your hand at a new adventure.
The days, especially in summer, are long and Lessinia has many attractions not to be missed.
Well, today we suggest one that will make you a child again, we will give you directions to go in search of a treasure.
This is not a traditional treasure, you will not need the shovel and the compass, the X on the map that I will show you shortly is not there.
Disappointed?
Nooo, we don’t want to spoil the surprise, the fact is that this treasure is in plain sight, you can find it a few km from our Park and the challenge will not be to find it but reach it and then, if you wish, explore it.
It is located at 917 meters above sea level, it was the royal army to design it and was completed in 1911, more than 100 years ago.
It was used until the end of the 1980s by the Italian Army as a powder and ammunition depot.
100 years are a long time and in fact this treasure has already enjoyed an important recovery and restoration action, on the occasion of the centenary of Great War , and since 2018 it can be visited again during events or by reservation.
I think you understand by now what it is but for the more distracted we add some more details.
The construction is in stone of Prun , and was transported by cableway to the top from a quarry below.
It is completely surrounded by a moat.
And in the ditch of the gorge there is a caponry to protect the entrance and on its right there is an armored gallery.
In short, it should now be clear to everyone that the treasure is the stone giant itself: it is the Fort Monte Tesoro .
And for those who want a preview, we offer a short video below.
Enjoy.
